The 19th Tokyo ・ New York Friendship Ceramics Contest

The Tokyo ・ New York Friendship Ceramics Contest, launched in 1996 to promote grassroots exchange between the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and New York City residents, will celebrate its 19th anniversary this year.

The Tokyo ・ New York Friendship Ceramics Contest, launched in 1996 as a grassroots exchange program between the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the citizens of New York City, is now in its 19th year and has grown even more substantial. The private sector, supported by a large number of volunteers, is highly regarded by the City of New York as a cultural bridge between the United States and Japan, as well as an educational program.

Entries were judged by Ohi Chozaemon XI （ Visiting Professor at Kanazawa University, Adjunct Lecturer at Tokyo University of the Arts, Director of Ohi Museum ）, Shinichi Dohi （ Former conservator, Metropolitan Museum of Art ）, Cora Rosevear （ Former Associate Curator, MoMA ）, Mieko Murase （ Takeo and Itsuko Atsumi Professor Emeritus, Columbia University, Former Special Advisor, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Oriental Department ）.

The Grand Prize winner will receive a round-trip ticket from Tokyo to New York from All Nippon Airways, a cash prize of $ 500 and a plaque from Gallery Saika, a plaque for each of the second ・ and third places, and three honorable mentions.
