Photo right : Takeuchi Koralen cup & Saucer ( circa 1900-1910 )
One of the gorgeous decorations of coral-like glass beads pasted and framed in gold paint. This "koralen" technique was developed for the Western market and evokes an aesthetic similar to that of Japanese porcelain-foil cloisonne. While there are many jars and plates, it is extremely rare for a cup & to exist in the form of a saucer. It is a miraculous work that breathes the skill and sensitivity of the craftsmen of the time.

This exhibition brings together about 50 coffee cups and their sets that traveled to Europe and the United States from the Meiji period to the early Showa period. The opportunity to view them on this scale is extremely rare. We sincerely look forward to your visit.
