We are pleased to welcome Mr. Yoshitsugu Nagano, a New York-based tea master （ of the Ueda Sokyu School ） as our speaker, who will talk about "Business and Chanoyu" in a dialogue format with Mr. Maeda, Director of the Japan Club ・ Office.

Are you familiar with the tea masters known as modern sukiya? The leading figures in the business world of the Meiji era, such as Keita Goto （ of Tokyu Group ） and Ichizo Kobayashi （ of Hankyu Group ）, led by Takashi Masuda of Mitsui, were all devoted to the tea ceremony. Takashi Masuda, in particular, has been called "the greatest tea master since Rikyu," and his name is engraved in the history of the tea ceremony. In the course of their business relationships with Western countries, they quickly realized the importance and value of their own culture. This lineage of first-class businessmen devoting themselves to the tea ceremony was passed down to Konosuke Matsushita, who contributed greatly to the continuation ・ and development of the tea ceremony.

What was it about tea that fascinated them, and what was their world of tea like? We will introduce them as tea masters, different from the side of businessmen. This is an online ・ event, so please feel free to join us from your home or office on your PC ・ or smart phone.
