I am a Fort Lee resident. I found out once before that a person from Korea used my address without my permission and later used my address without my permission to receive welfare benefits. I have been absolutely careful since then, but now I have a very unpleasant experience with a mom friend of mine who was involved with my kids and we had a mutual friend who I had no choice but to hang out with at first, so please hear me out. Let's say her name is J. Our condo has amenities where people can get together, have barbecues, pools, etc., but J came over under the guise of a playdate for the kids. J came over on the pretext of having a play date with her kids, and since I couldn't open the door to this area without a digital key, I lent her the key. A few hours later, J had successfully lost the key and I was nearly in tears. Later that night I received a text message from him saying that he was sorry because his child had accidentally put the key in his pocket. I was relieved and got the key back a few days later, but for some reason the nagging bad feeling never went away.
On Memorial Day, this mutual friend of ours asked us to have a BBQ at our condo, so we did our best to prepare a BBQ for the kids' friends who were coming. Of course, J came too, and the kids returned first, leaving her alone. Trial for amendment of Article 11 of the Nationality Law
Under the current Japanese Nationality Law, a person "automatically" loses Japanese nationality if he/she voluntarily acquires the nationality of another country.
Now, plaintiffs residing in Switzerland and other countries are fighting in court to amend this. I think this is an important trial for those of us living in the US.
There is a petition campaign on change.org to amend Article 11 of the Nationality Law. Currently, about 43,000 votes have been collected, but it would be great if more people would sign the petition. The next trial will be held in September. By the way, I am an individual and not a member of this association.
