I am a Fort Lee resident. I found out once before that a person from Korea used my address without my permission and later used my address without my permission to receive welfare benefits. I refrained from contacting the police or the welfare office because it is not a big town like New York. I just asked the person to stop using my address, and when my child cried because of the harassment, the police were called.
I have been absolutely careful since then, but now I have a very unpleasant experience with a mom friend of mine who was involved with my kids and we had a mutual friend who I had no choice but to hang out with at first, so please hear me out. Let's say her name is J. Our condo has amenities where people can get together, have barbecues, pools, etc., but J came over under the guise of a playdate for the kids. J came over on the pretext of having a play date with her kids, and since I couldn't open the door to this area without a digital key, I lent her the key. A few hours later, J had successfully lost the key and I was nearly in tears. Later that night I received a text message from him saying that he was sorry because his child had accidentally put the key in his pocket. I was relieved and got the key back a few days later, but for some reason the nagging bad feeling never went away.
On Memorial Day, this mutual friend of ours asked us to have a BBQ at our condo, so we did our best to prepare a BBQ for the kids' friends who were coming. Of course, J came too, and the kids returned first, leaving her alone. I was busy cleaning up and taking care of the kids when J asked me for the key again. 20 or 30 minutes later he didn't come back, which I thought was strange, but nothing happened and the day was over. A few days later I was going to the DMV and needed to bring my ID, so I was going to bring my passport and my green card, which I always keep with me, when I noticed that it was missing along with my credit card. I did some googling and found out that the indentityft consisting of illegal immigrants of Korean descent is a big problem. I am by no means anti-Korean or racist. But I would like to make sure that Japanese people like me who don't know such things in the US should be aware of it. Of course I have seen many fine Koreans. But unfortunately, there are many criminals among them. And their ways are very devious and egregious. It is easy to be easy to forgive them because they are Asian, but please keep in mind that their senses are basically completely different from Japanese people. And please do not invite people you do not know well to your house or premises.

Trial for amendment of Article 11 of the Nationality Law
Under the current Japanese Nationality Law, a person "automatically" loses Japanese nationality if he/she voluntarily acquires the nationality of another country.
Now, plaintiffs residing in Switzerland and other countries are fighting in court to amend this. I think this is an important trial for those of us living in the US.
There is a petition campaign on change.org to amend Article 11 of the Nationality Law. Currently, about 43,000 votes have been collected, but it would be great if more people would sign the petition. The next trial will be held in September. By the way, I am an individual and not a member of this association.

Nice to meet you. I have a question regarding the entry of a foreign national's family member into Japan.

A family member of a Japanese permanent resident (with re-entry permit) is currently in the US and will be returning to Japan for the summer vacation. Due to immigration restrictions, I understand that a visa is required for foreigners to travel to Japan, but is it the same for permanent resident foreigners? You should contact the embassy, but if anyone knows, I would like to know.
