We have a complete treatment system in collaboration with two full-time psychotherapists and a psychiatrist, and we can also prescribe medication for those who need it. The Japan-America Counseling Center was established in 1983 as a mental health department within Hamilton Madison House, a non-profit social welfare organization with a history of about 120 years, when few Japanese counselors were available, and has been addressing the mental health issues of Japanese in New York City. It has been dealing with the mental health problems of Japanese in New York City. We are the only New York State-accredited mental health clinic for Japanese, and our two native Japanese-speaking psychotherapists provide 2,400 cases of psychotherapy annually. Medications can also be prescribed for those who need them.
